It was 65 degrees when I took this photo of the sun setting at my parents’ house this weekend while I sat in the grass throwing the ball for the dogs. It’s currently 36 degrees and snowing in DC where I’m watching traffic build on the messy roads outside my window as taxis beep and sirens wail.
I love cities. Like, a lot. I love their opportunities and I love people and culture and big buildings and amazing restaurants and artsy neighborhoods and the fact that if you want to eat falafel at 3 a.m. there’s a really good chance you can make that happen.
But one day I am going to live in a place where the only thing blocking the sunset are trees. There’s like a 65% chance I’ll turn into a crazy dog lady hermit at that point, but I’m willing to take that risk for things like grassy hills and blessed silence.
