My Opinion

This morning I was talking to my friend Jenn about a dog whose photo she had seen at a local shelter. Jenn is dog-less and wants a dog and this dog needed a home. I said she needed to adopt it. She said she wasn’t sure. I insisted.

So at lunch we drove to the animal shelter to check out the dog. Turns out, her dog isn’t available for adoption until next Monday. However, there was a pile of shivering puppies sitting in the rain and this little caramel-colored one was among them. At this shelter, dogs there longer than a few days are euthanized. She’d already been there a few days. I asked to hold her.

Which is how I ended up adopting a part-Lab-part-mutt puppy today.

She heads to the vet tonight, gets spayed in the morning, and I pick her up tomorrow afternoon. I’m excited and already envisioning playing with a big dog, and taking her running and hiking. Now I just have to go home and sell this idea to the real head of my household: Rosie.
